CONFERENCE KEYNOTES
KEYNOTE - DAY 1
"Reimagining STEM: Evolving Instruction in an Ever-Changing World"
Join Paul Andersen as he delves into the topic of reimagining STEM education. Drawing from his experience as both a Montana teacher and an international science consultant, he will share strategies that have worked and a vision for the future.
Paul Andersen is an educational consultant and YouTube creator living in Bozeman, MT, and he taught science in Montana for 20 years. Paul was the 2011 Montana Teacher of the Year, and was also one of four finalists for the 2011 National Teacher of the Year. In addition to teaching, Paul has created hundreds of YouTube science tutorials that have been viewed millions of times by students around the world. He's provided training for thousands of students, teachers, and administrators, and he enjoys providing meaningful professional development that can be applied immediately in the classroom.
BUT WAIT - THERE'S MORE: Paul will also be facilitating a BREAKOUT SESSION at our conference! If you'd like to share details about our premier keynote speaker, please send them this link: https://conta.cc/3USSxG0
Check out Paul Andersen's website, The Wonder of Science, and his YouTube Videos, and plan to see him in person this August!
KEYNOTE - DAY 2
"Obstacles are Opportunities: Viewing the World through the Lens of a Data Scientist"
Dr. Ann Marie Reinhold is a Data Scientist and Assistant Professor in the Gianforte School of Computing and Co-Director of the Software Engineering and Cybersecurity Lab (SECL) at Montana State University in Bozeman. Dr. Reinhold is a data scientist who specializes in the development and application of computational methods to understand the mechanisms underpinning pressing environmental, societal, and cybersecurity problems.
Dr. Reinhold will share how she shifted from struggling through high school to co-directing one of the biggest labs at MSU. Reinhold will interweave how her scientific thinking was developed by key teachers and the learning environments that they cultivated, and how these experiences still impact her data-science research today.

KEYNOTE - DAY 3
"Where the Wild Science Is"
Dr. Alexandra Isern is currently the Assistant Director for Geosciences at the National Science
Foundation (NSF). Previously she was Head of the Antarctic Sciences Section in NSF’s Office
of Polar Programs. Dr. Isern has been at NSF for over twenty-two years, eleven of which were
in Polar Programs. Dr. Isern was also Section Head for Surface Earth Processes within NSF’s
Division of Earth Sciences. Dr. Isern received a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the
University of Florida, a Master of Science in Oceanography from the University of Rhode
Island, and her PhD. In geochemistry from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich. After her PhD, Dr. Isern was a Lecturer in Marine Science and Geology at the University of Sydney, Australia. Her research primarily focused on the evolution of carbonate platforms and reefs as a result of climate change and resulted in many months at sea and in the field.
Join Alexandra Isern on an interactive journey through planet Earth. She’ll talk about what it’s like to stand on an ice sheet in Antarctica surrounded by waddling penguins, how best to connect with students on topics like dinosaurs and climate change, and where you can catch captivating auroras in the night sky. In addition to showing off the latest fashion from Antarctica, she’ll also have stickers, posters, and trading cards for the classroom.
